Geriatric Academic Career Awards - (GACA) - #93.250

1. Individuals Eligible to Receive Awards Eligible project directors are individuals who are applying to the Health Resources and Services Administration for a Geriatric Academic Career Award through the accredited health professions school of medicine, osteopathic medicine, nursing, social work, psychology, dentistry, pharmacy, or allied health where they have a junior faculty appointment. A. To be eligible to receive a GACA award, an individual must be: B. Board certified or board eligible in internal medicine, family practice, psychiatry, or licensed dentistry, or have completed any required training in a discipline and be employed in an accredited health professions school that is approved by the Secretary; C. Have completed an approved fellowship program in geriatrics or have completed specialty training in geriatrics as required by the discipline and any additional geriatrics training as required by the Secretary; and D. Have a junior (non-tenured) faculty appointment at an accredited school of medicine, osteopathic medicine, nursing, social work, psychology, dentistry, pharmacy, or other allied health disciplines in an accredited health professions school that is approved by the Secretary. 2. Institutions Eligible to Submit Applications on Behalf of Eligible Individuals) Institutions eligible to receive payments and to submit applications on behalf of individuals applying for a Geriatric Academic Career Award include accredited health professions schools of medicine, osteopathic medicine, nursing, social work, psychology, dentistry, pharmacy, or allied health.
