  • Each year the US Federal Government offers free money for education.

How Much, How Long, and Who Can Be Helped?

 

  • Max. grant money up to $6,095.00 per student for a school year,

  • Max. lifetime Pell Grant awards limited to 12 semesters,

  • A Pell Grant is awarded to undergraduate students who:

    • Attend university, college or career school in 2018-2019;

    • Do not have a bachelor, graduate, or professional degree;

    • Show a real financial need in order to continue their studies.

Federal Pell Grants are usually awarded only to undergraduate students. The amount of aid you can receive depends on your financial need, the cost of attendance at your school, and more.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

How Much, When, and Who Can Get It?

 

  • Max. Grant money up to $4,000 for a school year per student,

  • FSEO Grant award depends on school availability of this kind of grant money,

  • A Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant money can be granted to undergraduate students who:

    • Attend a college, university, or career school in 2018-2019;

    • Do not have a bachelor, graduate, or professional degree;

    • Show an exceptional financial need in order to continue their studies.

The FSEOG program is administered directly by the financial aid office at each participating school. Not all schools participate. Check with your school’s financial aid office to find out if the school offers the FSEOG.

TEACH Grant - Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education

 

TEACH Grant Award Year – Oct 1, 2018-2019

How Much, How, and Who Can Get It?

 

  • Max. grant money up to $3,752 per student for the 2018-19 school year,

  • TEACH Grant is awarded to students that attend a participating school and the students must meet certain academic achievement requirements

  • TEACH Grant recipients must serve for a minimum of 4 years as full-time teachers in a school or educational service agency that serves low-income students

  • Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant is awarded to undergraduate or graduate students who are:

    • Enrolled and study in programs that prepare them to teach in a high-need field at the elementary or secondary school level in a low-income area.

A TEACH Grant can help you pay for college if you plan to become a teacher in a high-need field in a low-income area. You will be required to teach for a certain length of time, so make sure you understand your obligation.

Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant

 

Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant Award Year – Oct 1, 2018-2019

How Much, When, and Who Can Get It?

 

  • Max. grant money award is up to $5,717.11 for a school year per student,

  • To get this grant, the student must be ineligible for a Federal Pell Grant due to not meeting the requirement for an exceptional financial need,

  • Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant is awarded to students whose:

    • Parent or guardian died as a result of performing military service in Iraq or Afghanistan after the 9/11 events and was a member of the U.S. armed forces and,

    • Who are younger than 24 years old or,

    • Enrolled at least part-time at a college or career school at the time of the parent’s or guardian’s death.

If your parent or guardian died as a result of military service in Iraq or Afghanistan, you may be eligible for an Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant. Like other federal grants, Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grants provide money to college or career school students to help pay their education expenses. However, Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grants have special eligibility criteria.
